About Magus Counseling
The word Magus—rooted in ancient wisdom—refers to a person dedicated to learning, transformation, and guiding others toward deeper understanding.
When dreaming of creating a collective that helped people truly heal, it was the values of mutual aid, community, shared wisdom and empowerment that rang true. At Magus Collective, the “magic” is found in you, and in me and in the collective wisdom, skills, joy and pain that we all experience in this life. The vision at Magus is to help us create a space where we are encouraged and safe to share those burdens with one another, but perhaps more critical, to share the triumphs, as well. There is courage in finding community, and we need that in this moment more than ever. I hope you’ll find comfort here.
A Letter from
Maggie McGrann,
LMHC, NCC, MS
Founder and Therapist, Magus Counseling
Hey there—I’m Maggie. I’m a 40-something, divorced, co-parenting mom of two. I began my career in education, working within government and higher education institutions, and earned my Master’s in School Counseling in 2014. I spent seven years as a middle school counseling director and one year as a high school counselor before earning my Licensed Mental Health Counselor license in 2022. I then spent three years in a group practice, gaining invaluable experience in treating anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, PTSD, C-PTSD, and trauma history.
I am deeply passionate about mental health and overall wellness in our society, homes, families, schools, and institutions. The world we live in is stressful, and the demands of daily life can make it difficult to simply get through the day—let alone thrive and live authentically. I believe that creativity, self-expression, authenticity, and community are essential to navigating these challenges. As a therapist, I promise to show up as my authentic self and help you find ways to do the same. I also believe that community is a vital aspect of individual well-being, which is why Magus Counseling prioritizes small groups where individuals can build connections and expand their support networks.
And just for fun: I love dogs, running outside in the sunshine, playing with my kids and friends, dancing to music at home, paint-by-numbers, drinking too much coffee, making people laugh, and welcoming others into my home to celebrate everything we can.
—MAGGIE
